Become the CEO of a megacorp and use economies of scale to crush your competition.

Unfinished and unpolished due to being made in a 72 hour timespan for GMTK Game Jam 2024. I'd like to come back and finish/polish this game after the jam, so leave feedback and follow me to be notified when the game is updated!

HOW TO PLAY:

Use the arrow keys to move your selection, press X to select, press Z in a menu to go back, or on the world map to end your turn.

Buyerville (left) is where you can study your three buyers. They have a budget at the top of their card, followed by a list of products they want (squares, balls, hearts, and stars), and the maximum number they will buy. Later in the game, if you are unhappy with your customer base, you can select the bottom option, spending $500 to reroll a random buyer.

To get products, select the seller lot (right). The lot will contain different products for sale in bulk. There will be a picture of the product, and a number telling you how many are in the bundle. Select an item you would like to bid on, and bid what you think the number of products for sale is worth. After placing your bid by pressing X on the top menu, whoever made the largest bid, you or your opponent, will receive the items and have the price deducted from your funds.

Select your company, A-Corp at the bottom, to view your funds, rent, inventory, and listings. Your funds are the amount of money you have available to spend. Your rent will be charged to you and raised by ten at the end of each quarter (turn). Your inventory at the bottom shows how many of each product you have in stock. You should see three places that ask you to add a listing. Listings are the prices you set for one of your products. Select any slot to make a listing, select the top option to change the product being sold in the listing, and use the left and right buttons to change the price. When you are done setting your listings, simply press Z to back out.

After you have bid on products and created your listings, press Z on the world map to end your turn, advancing to the next quarter. Instantly, the buyers will each choose one place to shop at, either you or your competitor, and do their best to fulfill their shopping list within their budget. At the end of the quarter, rent will be deducted from your funds and you will be able to bid and list new items. (I'm sorry that there is no animation for this phase, I ran out of time and plan to fix it in an update)

On the next turn, you can select your competitors office (Top) and see what they listed the previous quarter, as well as their funds and inventory. Repeat this process, and the first business to be unable to afford their rent at the end of the quarter loses.

Again, the game is unfinished and unbalanced as a result. Please let me know what you think.

I also noticed this strategy. The opponent AI is so bad that often just letting them try and run their business will cause them to lose money faster than your rent will deplete yours lol. The AI needed a lot of work and I ran out of time.
